Professor Frederick Yung, the Head Assessor of the HKICT Awards Startup Categories in 2017 and 2018, previously headed the Business Incubation Programme of HK Science and Technology Parks Corporation (“HKSTP”) and had incubated more than 300 technology and design start-ups and reviewed over 1,000 business plans, will host this special workshop free for TEN members on April 17th focusing on the practical advice and tips on making your elevator pitch a winning one including how to prepare a 5-8 minutes of PowerPoint pitch to attract investors .

    Frederick Yung

    Frederick WS Yung currently is an Adjunct Professor of the Hang Seng Management College and has taught in the MBA Programme of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in business planning and entrepreneurial fund-raising as a part-time lecturer from 2014-2016 and was the Honourary Trainer of the Hong Kong Business Angel Network (HKBAN). He was a Visiting Assistant Professor with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) Business School in the 2103/14 academic year and he carries with him more than 30 years of experience in marketing, business operation/ management, nurturing start-ups, coaching of entrepreneurs in investment fundraising, and running an incubator with over 100 start-ups.

    Prior to joining UNNC, he headed the Business Incubation Programme of HK Science and Technology Parks Corporation (“HKSTP”) and had incubated more than 300 technology and design start-ups and reviewed over 1,000 business plans. Before his tenure at the HKSTP, he was the Business Services Operations Director of Xerox (HK) Ltd, and was responsible for the profit and loss of the Office Supplies Department, ten retail outlets and Macau Operations. He also led a Business Process Re-Engineering team and set-up one of Hong Kong’s first integrated call centres that handled inquiries on sales, billing and order processing of products and maintenance services. Prior to working at Xerox, he was the Regional Field Services Marketing Manager of Digital Equipment Corporation (HK) Ltd for its 11 Far Eastern countries, and had also served as a senior executive in various companies including Dodwell Business Machines and Jardine Marketing Services Ltd.

    In 2014, he served in the brain-storming team on the curriculum development of the CUHK Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Theme for 2016-19 Academic Development Proposal, and also as the Industry Representative of the Programme Development Committee for the successful accreditation the MSc in Entrepreneurial Management of the Hang Seng Management College. In 2017 and 2018, he served respectively as the Head Assessor for the Software & Apps and Hardware & Device of the ICT Awards Startup Category organized by the OGCIO of the HKSAR Government

    Mr. Yung is a Certified Programme Facilitator of Kepner-Tregoe’s Problem Solving and Decision Making course and Learning International Limited’s Professional Selling Skills course. He received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Loyola College, Montreal Canada and his MBA from University of British Columbia, Canada.
